State Bank of India Officers' Association (Kerala Circle)

SBIOA (KC) completes nineteen years of service to the Officers fraternity on 25th October 2019. This triennial, SBIOA (KC) has created yet another historical milestone by the smooth integration and strengthening of its membership by integration of ABOA with SBIOA with effect from 24.05.2017.


Youth Empowerment Seminars

Youth Empowerment Seminars in connection with the 50th year of Bank Nationalisation and the Golden Jubilee of the 17 days Indefinite Strike by AISBOF were held at Ernakulam on the 13th of July 2019 and at Trivandrum 14th July 2019. Sri. V. K. Prasad, Former President AIBOC, Kerala State and Sri. Y. Sudarshan Former General Secretary of AISBOF and Chairman AIBOC addressed the convention at Ernakulam and Sri. Soumya Datta our General Secretary AISBOF/AIBOC addressed the convention at Trivandrum. Our Circle President Sri. V. K. Premachandran presided over the functions and Sri. G.R Jayakrishnan, General Secretary spoke on the occasion. I congratulate all the module DGS and EC team for making both the Seminars an effective one, especially the Trichur and Kollam Modules for ensuring large participation.

International Women’s Day

On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, Meeting was held at Trivandrum under the auspices of District level AIBOC and at Kollam and Thrissur Module under SBIOA(KC). Our lady members in large numbers participated and took part in the deliberation that followed.

Area Meetings

A large number of area meetings at different parts of the state have taken place during the period. Area meetings have been conceived as a potent medium to foster effective and direct interaction and communication across the organization. These are the occasions for collection of the gut-feeling of the members and their feed-back, which are the most valuable in puts for purposeful organizational functioning. Even though all the meetings were well attended and lively more participation is anticipated. First area meeting of the new team was held at Thrissur with a very good participation by the members. Regular Area Meetings are being conducted at all modules and most of these meetings were attended by the President, Gen Secretary and /or the Secretary General/ other Office Bearers from the Central Office. In the Open forum in all the area meetings , a large number of members spoke about issues concerning them including merger related, ICT/IMT transfers, DPC, Fitments, Shortage of Officers, Problems of single officer branch etc. The General Secretary/Secretary General responded to the various issues raised.

Other meetings / Seminars

  • Officers Association Office inauguration of Kottayam Module was held on 15th November 2018

  • Cluster meetings are being conducted at regular intervals in all modules by the Reginal Committees. This enables free and frank interaction with our members at grass root level and also provides the EC Members an exposure for moulding up their organization skills as they themselves have to handle such meetings.

  • As per EC discussion RMME and RMSE meeting conducted at Kollam on 8th August 2018 at Trichur and Kottayam on 9th August 2018

Farewell Meetings

Ours is one of the organizations, conducting regular fare well meetings in all places and honoring our members who are retiring on superannuation. True to our tradition we are giving lot of importance to these meetings and invariably representatives from central office make it a point to attend such meeting. We are giving Rs.5000/- to each retired officer who is a member of the social security scheme as a token of our love and affection in addition to a suitable memento.

A series of retirement cum area meetings were held at various modules/centres at Trichur, Palakkad, Malapuram, Kannur, Kozhikode, Perumbavoor, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Kollam, Ernakulam and Trivandrum to bid farewell to our President Sri. C.P. Krishnandan and General Secretary Sri. V.Muralidharan and more than 3000 members participated in these meetings.

Meetings at The Training Center

Regular meetings are being conducted at the training centers at Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi, for the trainees. Interface with JMGS /TOs has been carried out at Training Centres, during the period under review and membership/social security forms has been distributed to all those who were yet to enroll themselves as members of our Association, apart from inculcating and imbibing in them the need for trade union and their roles in taking the association and its activities forward.

Branch Visits

Intensive Branch visits have been conducted in all Zones / Regions by the Secretaries and Committee Members. It helped the Association in assessing the problems faced by our members especially, those who are working in Branches. The major issues were taken up at the local structural meeting by the module Secretary’s.

The General Secretary, President, Secretary (Finance) along with the office bearers from Ernakulum met the latest Trainee Officers batch at SBLC, Kochi and interacted with them for an hour. The inauguration of office premises at RASMECC Thiruvalla, AO Thrissur, Kozhikode Zonal office and Kottarakara, Alwaye, Thaikattukara, Sreekantapuram, Kandalloor branches took place during the period under review and was attended by our Circle/respective Module leaders and EC team.



As part of our Social Objectives, we have been deeply involved in various Social activities and have provided timely help in cash and kind, individually and through various institutions that take care of the differently abled. We have

  • Donated dresses to 100 inmates of a Home for the mentally challenged at Pathanapuram

  • Donated bedsheets to the poor in the old age home at Pathanamthitta

  • Donated a water cooler for Sukritham Girls Home, Kozhikode

  • Distribution of books to the nursery school children at Puthiyathura

  • Distributed umbrellas to the poor children of Sree Chitra Home Thiruvanthapuram

  • Donated a Water cooler to provide hot and cold water to the inmates of an Orphanage near Punalur

  • Donated Uniforms to 175 little students of an Anganwadi in the coastal village of Punthura

  • Donated agricultural implements to the members of an agricultural Cooperative in the backward district of Wynad

  • Donated Sewing machines to 50 families in Thrissur to help in their livelihood

  • As a token of our kind gesture and love, a house was constructed and handed over within the shortest possible time on 29th of May 2019 to Sri. C.P.Chacko and family at Niranam whose house was devastated by the floods. Special kudos to the Kollam Module team led by Sri. Anil Shankar and Regional Secretary Sri. M. Sadique for the special efforts taken in this regard. The key was handed over by our erstwhile General Secretary Sri. V. Muralidharan in a meeting attended by the Members of the local Panchayat, Circle leaders, Regional Managers, BMs, Kollam EC team and other EC members and activists.

  • New pumpsets was distributed to those farmers whose pumpsets got destroyed in the flood in the programme organized by Alathur Constituent Assembly area by name NIRA on 24th December 2018.


The Social Security Scheme (SSS) launched by the ABOA was a bold initiative that found very large acceptance among our members. It is now continuing under SBIOA (KC). The scheme envisages a monthly subscription of Rs 100 and promises a death benefit at the rate of Rs 5,00,001/- to the bereaved family of our unfortunate colleagues who left us for heavenly abode. An amount of Rs 5000 is paid to all other officer members on their superannuation.


This scheme was started during the year 2000 alongwith the circle association formation. Entry into the scheme is through a onetime payment of Rs 2500 per member. In the event of the unfortunate demise of a member, death benefit at the rate of Rs 1,50,000/- to the bereaved family of our unfortunate colleagues who left us for heavenly abode. An amount of Rs 5000 is paid to all other officer members on their superannuation other than those who were members of the Chennai Circle Benevolent scheme, who will receive only Rs 2500 as survival Benefit.


We have acquired two flats at Guruvayur near Thekkenada and converted them into seven rooms and a kitchen. It was inaugurated by the General Secretary and the rooms will be ready for allotment this month.


Inauguration of TRABOES administrative complex was held on 29th October 2018. It was inaugurated by former General Secretary, AISBOF Sri. Y. Sudarsanan and attended by all our National leaders. The key note address was presented by our CGM Sri.S.Venkataraman. A training programme on Disciplinary Proceedings cum Vigilance by NATURE for all the Banks was organized on 28th October 2018.

  • Promotion Coaching Classes by JS Institute, Bangalore, for promotions to all cadres and for Confirmation/Assessment tests for PO’s/TO’s, was conducted during the first and second week of December 2019, which was inaugurated by our Circle leaders. The classes had an overwhelming response with good participation by our members aspiring for confirmation/ promotions and the results were very good.

  • TRABOES was privileged to host the International Trade Union Convention from 17th to 19th of March 2019 with dignitaries and participants from various part of the world and our country covering all the affiliate units of AIBOC. All the partici[ants were in high praise of our facilty and the way the Convention was conducted.

  • CAIIB/ JAIIB classes have been arranged with CTDI, Chandigarh and the first classes will be conducted from 17th to 23rd of this month and after that, every six months.

  • Various meetings of our Circle, Federation and Confederation are being held at our TRABOES Hall. Bookings for our auditorium/classrooms from local people and organizations are also taking place and we look forward to making our TRABOES a most sought after premises in the locality, in the coming days.


STABOC, is the cultural wing of SBIOA (KC). It is a platform for unearthing the hidden cultural talents of our members and their family members. Periodical programmes and family get-togethers are being conducted in the centres where STABOC has been formed and the programmes are well received by members.

We are yet to grow more active under STABOC at all modules and hope all the modules will renew their efforts to use the platform for carrying out cultural, social and meaningful liaison with our members with regular programmes in the days ahead.


STABOC, Trivandrum, is conducting the N S Memorial All India Twenty -20 Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament during the month of Jan -February. The tournament is organized to commemorate the fond memory of Late Com N S Muralidharan Nair, the legendary Trade Union Leader of our movement and the tournament is conducted on a league cum knockout basis.

The 12th NS Memorial Cricket tournament was conducted at the Vellayani Agriculture College ground, Thiruvananthapuram on the 23rd and 24th of February 2019. A similar cricket tournament was also held at Kottayam on 27/04/2019.

I Congratulate all the modules for making the event a historic one with their sponsorship, participation and cheering up the event, fostering the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie.


Our Prestigious Publication, was envisaged as an effort to serve the cause of collectiveness and use communication effectively through involvement of members. It covers current events as well as service matters.

With a view to rejuvenating the publication I request our members to contribute to the contents of the publication to maintain its premier position among such magazines in the Banking Trade Unions. I request all of you to ensure that articles for printing reach the central office early, so that we can achieve the same.

SBIOA (KC) publication ‘Law of Gravity’ regarding Vigilance awareness was released by our CGM Sri. Venkataraman at LHO on Ist January 2019 in connection with the New Year Celebrations.


Dairies and Calendars for the year 2017, 2018, 2019 have been printed by the Association and given to all the members. Each year we have been able to bring out a reasonably good diary with lot of information in time and this has been appreciated by all the members. This year also we are printing and circulating Diaries for all our members.


Ongoing Housing Project - Trivandrum – Travancore Meridian

SBT officers Housing Society at Trivandrum, had launched an ambitious project at Kannanmoola in the heart of the City IN 1.15 ACRES OF LAND with 156 flats with all modern amenities. All the flats have been booked and the construction work is on. The statutory approvals were received after a lot of legal hussles and took about two years. The rates are very competitive compared to the market rates in Thiruvananthapuram. The work is in full swing and is scheduled to be completed by March 2020. The society has shifted to new premises at LMS Compound Thiruvananthapuram.


Though situated at Ernakulam, the management of the school has been taken over by the SBIOA Education Trust (Chennai). This year the School registered 100% pass in the Plus Two results 2018 with 54 students grabbing Distinctions.

Children of the SBIOA Senior Secondary Public School, Ernakulam donated Rs. 201100/- towards the Chief Ministers fund for flood relief.

A book titled ‘Unity in Diversity’ was released by our General Secretary at the General Body Meeting of SBIOA Educational Trust.


The society shifted its operations to new premises on the I6th of September 2019 at LMS Compound Thiruvananthapuram. Any Officer working in Trivandrum district or on deputation to any office in Trivandrum district can take membership in the Society and they can avail facilities like Loans upto Rs. 4 lakhs, Emergency loan upto 1 lakh, Chitty of various chit amounts.
